The Worcester County Developmental Center, Inc. is committed to empowering developmentally challenged adults in making individual choices in how they live and work in their communities.
The Carriage House Restaurant is a training satellite operated by WCDC. This site provides and opportunity for individuals to recieve employment training by providing vocational experiences as a hostess , dishwasher, cashier, server or a janitorial worker as they interact with the community in the local business setting.
The WCDC coordinates a Communit Job Fair on an annual basis. This provides a great opportunity for qualified individuals with disabilities to network with prospective employers in the community.
A food service program is another employment opportunity provided for individuals served by WCDC. This is a unique program because not only does it provide community employment, it provides interaction between youth and individuals with disabilities due to a community partnership between a local school and WCDC.
The Worcester County Developmetal Center, Inc. utilizes the "Ask Me!" Survey results by communicating concerns to the Program Coordinators and improving the agencies internal survey. This check and balance process provides a way to identify areas of improvement and determine ways to enhance the services available to individuals served.

The goal of the Worcester County Developmental Center, Inc. (WCDC) is to ensure proficient, cost effective, quality services for individuals to achieve the personal outcomes in their individual plans. Quality assurance activities will address all care and related services provided by WCDC. WCDC will gather and assimilate date regarding quality of care provided by WCDC, communicate information concerning the above data to management and staff, and improve quality of care delivered by WCDC.
The Quality Assurance Committee meets once a month. Committee members are committed to providing agency leadership in the Continuous Quality Improvement process, using a teamwork approach, and will demonstrate this willingness through active involvement in the process.
WCDC supports individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming active members of their community by providing an array of services designed to cover all aspects of a developmental disabled person's life. Available services include Pre-Vocational Training, Job Placement, Supported Employment, Transportation, Residential Options, Individual Support Services, Health Services, Socialization and Enrichment Training.
Individuals who are interested in applying for services at the Worcester County Developmental Center, Inc. are referred to Resource Coordination at the Worcester County Health Department. Upon selection of WCDC as a potential provider by any individual, the assigned Resource Coordinator will submit and Individualized Plan or equivalent (including, but not limited to, Person Centered Plan and Essential Lifestyle Plan) to the Executive Director for consideration.
Funding Sources: 79% of WCDC's funding comes from the State of Maryland during FY 2005. The WCDC Foundation was established to raise revenue to assist with funding WCDC's programs and services.
