Mission Statement
The mission and philosophy of SHSG is to provide adult individuals in the state of Maryland who have developmental and/or physical disabilities with an opportunity to leave and grow with diginity in the least restrictive environment in a community setting.
SHSG's operational philosophy include but not limited to the following:
- A residential setting that would allow, encourage and support viable relationship with his/her family, guardian and community;
- A humanizing residential environment , which permits him/her a rhythm and routine of life , that is appropriate from the perspective of his/her chronological age, as well as his/her functional capabilities;
- A programatic continum of quality residential service, which affords him/her the opportunity for the developmemt of normalized attitudes and behaviors, the making of individual choices, the risk of success and failure, and the maximization of his/her potential for independent living;
- Develop individual plan ( IP ), incorporating appropriate professional assessment and evaluation, formal delineation of his/her development goale and objectives, provision of the instruction and supervision necessary for him/her to attempt to reach these goals and objectives, and his/her ongoing participation in th entire process.
- In direct response to these rights, each individual served by SHSG will have a responsibility to:
- Participate to the extent his or her capability allows, in the making of programatic decisions affecting his/her life.
- Attempt to the best of his/her to develop and achieve in accordance with the programatic goals and objectives he/she has helped to developed, and to pursue.
- Respect the rights and dignity of individuals and staff in the program, people in the community and also be accountable for the consequences of his/her behavior to the extent his/her capacity will allow.
- SHSG will customize services to suite specific behaviors and lifestyles of individuals as is allowed by applicable COMAR regulations, the individuals' IP, and behavior plan (when applicable).
- SHSG's expanded services in the immediate future would include: Group home (GH), Community Supported Living Arrangement (CSLA), Individual Family Care (IFC), Family & Individual Support Services (FISS), Day Habilitation/Sheltered Workshop and Residential Child Care Program (under age 21)and Innovative program.

- WRITE SERVICE FUNDING PLAN (DDA) OR WRITE PAYMENT PLAN (NON-DDA)
- SIGN SERVICE CONTRACT WITH SHSG INC.
