Autism, Mental Retardation, Head Injury, Specific Learning Disability, Speech/Language Impairment, Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder, Deafness/Severe Hearing Impairment, Blindness/Severe Visual Impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Behavioral Problems, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Mental Disorder, other neurological impairments, and other undetermined disablities.

Mission Statement

"People with developmental disabilities benefit form a friendly, safe secure environment where the atmosphere of the community residence is more like home than a medical facility, where their right to dignity, individuality, and privacy is respected. SecureCare Services encourages interaction between members of the home and the resident's independence and their decision making rigths are protected and supported."

Unique and Distinctive Qualities

SecureCare's facilities are Alternative Living Units/Group Homes where two to four individuals live in home-like settings, in safe, secure, healthy environments. The individuals served are provided with expert care and support services that encourage independence, well-being and greater community integration.

SecureCare's facilities are opened 24-hours per day, available to provide emergency respite care while demonstrating a willingness to accept requests from other agencies and providers in the community when crisis arises.

Throughout the years, SecureCare Services has honed its skills and expertise to meet the challenges of this special needs population, who present severe mental, medical and physical challenges and often require specilalized attention. The staff is prepared to handle circumstances that require use of individualized equipment, medication administration, physical exercice options and other special unique areas of need.

SecureCare Services offers their residents a number of services including but not limited to the following: Health Management, Emergency Preparedness, Medication Administration, Menu Planning/Cooking, Household Management, Crisis Intervention, Shopping Services, Benefits Management, Recreational Activities and exposure to the supportive employment opportunities.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations.

Since the development and submission of the first Quality Assurance Plan, SecureCare Services has sought to maintain high standards in provision of quality care and service, while ensuring that those served live in safe, secure environments free from abuse and neglectful situations.

SecureCare ensures that residential facilities are kept in compliance with COMAR, state and county regulations and that staff providing care are trained and certified in areas as specified by the Developmental Disabilities Administration, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties and all other governing agencies therein.

Throughout the year, SecureCare Quality Assurance team reviews and assesses the progress of individuals served to ensure that they are working towards meeting their established goals and that staff are fulfilling their individual needs as so defined.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

SecureCare Services' staff works closely with the individuals served to identify key funding sources and to facilitate their needs based on personal desires and goals as set forth in individual plans. Individuals are taught skills which support independent living, which include, but not limited to budgeting, money management, personal care, and household management.

Staff takes individuals out into the community to expose them to varied activities, in cultural, academic, religious and business environments. many of the consumers are introduced to the world of work through supportive employement programs. Others are actively enrolled in day programs, vocational training programs or schools which can help them learn and develop skills to foster greater strengths and independence.
