Mission Statement
To provide excellence in vocational and personal development programs to assist adults with disabilities to achieve their fullest potential for independence, confidence, and self sufficiency.
Unique or Distinctive Qualities
ROI operates two well equiped, safe and comfortable Supervised Worksites. One is in Lanham, Prince George's County, Maryland - the other in Germantown, Montegomery County, Maryland. At the worksites individuals with developmental disabilities receive counseling, participate in personal development programs, and engage in vocational training and employment opportunities. Employees of the worksite work on a variety of contracts ranging from poster rolling to adhering magnets to promotional items.
ROI provides transportation to employees of the supervised worksite.
ROI also manages a Supported Employment Program (SEP). Through SEP, more than fifty persons are employed in the community-at-large. SEP job coaches are dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities find and maintain employement in the community workforce. An ROI job coach searches for openings and assists in preparation of job applications, resumes, interviews. Working with employers, the job coach will train, coach and support the ROI participant as he/she undertakes a new job.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations.
ROI's quality assurance committee consists of ROI board members, parents of ROI participants and ROI staff. The committee meets regularly to insure that all ROI practices are upholding the rights of the individuals served and that behavior support services are administered with the least restrictive method.
ROI also conducts regular reviews of the goals of ROI participants. These reviews insure that all is being done to assist the participant in reaching the goals that she/he has set.
In addition, the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) licenses and monitors ROI. The DDA performs yearly agency reviews to ensure that the health, safety and human rights of all ROI participants are being upheld.
How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?
ROI works with Resource Coordinators, parents and other agencies in the exchange of information and resources. When opportunities become available, ROI informs parents and participants about recreational activities, additional trainings, and other community resources that may be helpful to an individual. In addition, ROI's Supported Employment Program helps individuals learn skills in the community workplace
Steps Individuals Must Take to Apply for Services
- Contact ROI for an intake interview
- Obtain an application from ROI's website or from the program director and bring it along with the individual's most recent psychological evaluation and a copy of the social security card to the interview.
- ROI will schedule a work trial, usually about a week to dtermine if the individual and ROI are good match for each other
