Mission Statement

The Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) is the community's agent for supporting families and individuals in need as a result of emotional, social or physical challenges. JSSA mission is to provide the highest quality counseling, homecare, vocational, educational and social services to individuals of all ages in Metropolitan Washington, regardless of ability to pay. JSSA's services reflect the traditional Jewish respect for the dignity and uniqueness of each human life.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

JSSA offers services on a NON-SECTARIAN basis including: mental health services, specialized mental health services for the deaf and hard of hearing, case management, life-long advocacy, supported employement for individuals with developmental disabilities, career counseling, home health services, workshops and groups.

Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

JSSA utilizes the results from the "Ask Me!" survey to improve its level of contact, communication, and service to the individuals and families that it serves. As appropriate, JSSA also utilizes the survey feedback to create new programs available to the community.

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public.

Discuss your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations

JSSA's Board Quality Improvement Committee serves as the Standing Committee. The Committee answers to the agency's entire Board of Directors. The function of the Committee is to oversee the agency's quality assurance and review of records, outcome studies, client satisfaction, accreditation, and program evaluation. Meetings are held quarterly. The Committee members are Board members and staff.

JSSA continuously seeks feedback from families receiving services through its agency. Feedback is obtained through means such as Client Satisfaction Surveys and results from Ask Me! data.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

The goal of JSSA's Developmental Disabilities Administration's funded program is to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families. Supports to individuals and families are geared to enable greater participation in the community and enhanced quality of life. The services JSSA provides are both flexible and dynamic in order to meet the needs of the individuals and families served. The services provided change as the needs of the individual change. Case managers continuously evaluate needs in order to provide appropriate and adaptable services. JSSA explores creative and innovative means to support the individuals and families served.

Community resources are utilized as well as natural supports. JSSA case managers work with recipients and their families to build upon existing support networks
