Summer Programs/Camps and Vacations.

Individuals Have the Following Types of Disabilities:
Mental Retardation, Autism, Behavioral Problems, Blindness/Severe Visual Impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Head Injury, Deafness/Severe Hearing Impairment, Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder, Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Mental Disorder, Orthopedic Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech/Language Impairment, Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Other neurological impairment and other undetermined disabilities.

Mission Statement

To improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing community recreational and leisure opportunities and promoting lifelong skills.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks provides a wide variety of recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The Department offers specialized Therapeutic Recreational Programs that focus on teaching the skills needed to participate in leisure activities. The Department also offers inclusion accommodations to individuals with disabilities who choose to participate in a non-TR program, but may need some additional assistance.
