Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations

Quality Assurance is a priority at Companions, Inc. Fulfillment of the mission is dependent upon Companions, Inc's ability to provide quality services on a consistent basis. Quality Assurance Protocols are used to monitor and evaluate the quality of services delivered to indiduals served. This Quality Assurance Plan has been developed by the governing body and management staff of Companions, Inc. using the requirements of the Developmental Disabilities Administration, the Codes of Maryland Regulations, and recommendations from nationwide survey reports. Individuals and family members are selected, based on their choices and preferences to participate in the development, review and implementation of the agency's Quality Assurance Plan. Companions, Inc. also seeks to participate in external quality improvement projects in manners that protect the rights, choices, and preferences of the individuals that participate in the projects. Recommendations from external survey reports, annual licensing surveys, regional site visits, consumer self-reports, and previous quality assurance action plans are used in reviewing and improving this quality assurance plan

Community Residential services provided by Companions, Inc. enables individuals to become involved with all aspects of community life. To achieve the agency's stated mission, a number of resources and services shall be available to individuals served. These resources and services shall be available for use based upon the choices and needs of the individual. Companions, Inc. acknowledges its commitment to providing and/or assisting the individual in obtaining additional services as identified in the Individual Plan.
